Using Zoom

See below for helpful tips to maximize your enjoyment of classes and prayers offered on Zoom.

Downloading Zoom

To participate in a session offered on Zoom, you will need to have the app (on phones and tablets) or the program (on computers) downloaded.

Using Your Camera and Mic

During a session make sure your microphone is muted when the teacher is teaching or guiding a meditation or when prayers are playing. Sessions may include a time for Q&A when you can unmute your mic to ask questions. Feel free to leave your camera on or off throughout the session according to your preference.

Sound Clarity for Prayers

To experience clear audio during prayers, please follow the instructions below.

Steps to Improve Prayer Audio Quality

To improve the quality of the prayers, you can activate a setting in Zoom called “Enable Original Sound” in advance of class.   To do this:

  • For computer:
    • Open Zoom
    • Click on Settings (small gear icon in top right)
    • Click on Audio (at left)
    • Click Advanced at bottom right
    • Click the box next to “Show in-meeting option to “Enable Original Sound” from microphone”
    • When you’re in a session a box should appear at the top left of your screen that says “Turn on Original Sound”.  Click that to improve your sound during prayers. It will turn blue.
    • You can always turn it off again by clicking the same button.  Having it off may make the teachers voice sound clearer.
  • For phone:
    • Open Zoom
    • Click Settings (bottom right)
    • Click “Meeting”
    • Scroll down and toggle the switch next to “Use original sound”
    • In class: click on “more” at bottom right.  Tap ‘Enable Original Sound” to improve your sound.
    • You can always turn it off again by clicking the same button.  Having it off may make the teachers voice sound clearer.
