weekly meditation classes for all levels
Weekly Classes
Odiyana Center offers meditation classes that are open to everyone; you don’t have to be Buddhist or have any special experience or background. The classes resonate with a lot of people because they provide very practical methods for finding peace, happiness and meaning in the midst of busy modern daily life. The classes also give effective ways of helping others and dealing with many of the problems in the world today.

Sunday Morning Meditation – Meditation Made Easy
Sundays | 11:00 am – 12:15 pm
With Resident Teacher Matthew Stein
Held in-person at Odiyana Buddhist Center, Glastonbury, CT (Available via Livestream to Center Members)
About the Class
Meditation gives rise to peace of mind, which in turn brings us happiness and freedom from stress, anxiety and difficult relationships. This program has been carefully designed to help everyone develop an enduring meditation practice. Discover the joy of meditation and become a life-long meditator! Each class includes guided meditations and advice on how to apply these teachings to our busy lives and increase our inner peace.
Special Prayers called Prayers for World Peace will be included during the last class of each month.
The Teacher
Matthew has practiced and taught Kadampa Buddhism and meditation for many years under the guidance of many senior teachers of the New Kadampa Tradition.
Matthew previously lived at the Kadampa World Peace Temple in New York where he engaged in in-depth study and retreat, and in 2023 he completed the Intensive Teacher Training Program at Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre in Northern England. Matthew teaches from the heart in a clear, warm and relaxed way, that is always practical and relevant to our daily lives.

About the Class
Learn practical ways of thinking to free your mind from habitual mental patterns of responding to difficulties that cause you only to experience more unhappiness. A course based on the book How to Solve Our Human Problems.
“We do not need to become unhappy just because things do not go our way. Although until now this has indeed been our reaction to difficulties, once we recognise that it does not work we are free to respond in a more realistic and constructive way” – Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, How to Solve Our Human Problems

Held in person at Odiyana Buddhist Center: 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury, CT

About the Class
Be kind to yourself by taking care of your mind. You will learn and practice simple meditations that allow you to develop and maintain a calm, clear mind. This clarity of mind naturally leads to an inner experience of peace and well-being. When our mind is peaceful, we can approach all situations with a more confident, positive and relaxed attitude.
You will leave each class with simple methods that you can apply to your own practice both in formal meditation and in daily life.
Everyone is welcome!
