What is the structure of this class?
In this class, Gen Khyenwang will give commentary to and guide meditations from the practice of Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion. Prayers are mental actions and are a very powerful and profound way to create the world we wish for, one that is harmonious and free from suffering. Learn how to engage in this simple and meaningful practice.
After the commentary and prayers, there will be a brief time for an optional virtual “turn and talk”, followed by time for any questions.
Who is Avalokiteshvara?
Avalokiteshvara is an enlightened being and manifestation of all Buddhas’ compassion. By relying sincerely upon Avalokiteshvara, and reciting his mantra with strong faith, we will temporarily improve our realizations of all the stages of the path, especially our realization of great compassion.
Where can I find the prayers so I can follow along?
The prayers we will be using can be found within the text, Mirror of Dharma with Additions by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. This text is also a meditation handbook. You can also find the ebook version of the prayers at Tharpa Publications.
By donation only.
